The field can be a dangerous place for an officer, which is why decisive decision-making is a must. Being decisive can even save lives, which is why an officer can’t afford the luxury of a second guess. It can be difficult however to be decisive when there is an air of doubt or uncertainty, which is why it is also important to have a good knowledge base before making your decision. An officer has an important duty to police the streets with integrity, and to uphold justice. Often, there is a fine line between justice and oppression that many police officers must walk.

There is never one right answer for all situations, which is why an officer must be well-educated and informed so that when the time comes, they can make decisive and well-informed decisions that lead to a good outcome. Upholding justice can be hard, but the sacrifices that must be made are well worth it in the end.
