Reel, Tackle, and Lures – What you need to Know

Fishing is an excellent outdoor sport that is popular with many people. If you are looking to spend some time outdoor relaxing and doing what most men like doing – fishing, then you need to get your fishing rod and go fishing. However, if you are a beginner, and have never fished you might want to use these tips before you go get a reel, tackle and lures.

Choosing a Reel

There are various types of reels available. However, for beginners, a closed reel will be ideal. With a closed reel, you just tap a trigger to as you cast the line and tap it again to stop. It is a one direction reel and is not difficult to use. You can also use an open face spinner reel, this will have a lever that you need to flip to cast the line and flip it back as you reel the line in again. The open face spinner reel is dual directional reel and is for more advanced purpose fishing.

Time to Tackle the Tackle

If your fishing rod does not have a line, you will need to buy the line, a bobber, hooks, and sinkers. How you string your fishing rod is based on the type of fish you want to catch. Catfish are bottom feeders and are easier to catch at night. You will need to use a bobber that glows in the dark, just make sure you are using a heavy sinker to get your bait to the bottom.

Lures

If you do not want to buy live bait, then lures are your next best option. You can buy lures and keep them in your car for those impromptu fishing times. Buying lures does depend on the type and size of fish you plan to catch. If you can use live bait, you will be better off with catching fish.
